16 Days of Activism

HCDI has actively participated in the organization of Port Vila’s 16 Days of Activism, a collaborative effort that has included many government, NGO and other representatives.

In 2016 the committee put together a float and successful opening

program in Independence Park, attended by many officials, CSOs and community members. The program also included drama and music performances by several groups, including the Baha’i youth group and Rainbow Theatre.

In 2017, programs were held throughout the 16 days. HCDI, collaborating with Nambawan Café, offered a moving closing program, that showed Mercy’s Blessing, an international award winning movie on the girl child’s right to education.

In 2018, 16 Days was held collaboratively with the Pacific Games, featuring many wonderful events, supported by Pacific Games athletes, and 16 days of information and activity booths, using the StanUp Strong theme and FB page

The 2019 program focused on community-based activities and also included the HCDI-sponsored Each for Equal media dialogue.

In 2020-2023, HCDI and Sista collaborated on its Journey to Change project, funded through Spotlight Initiative. Key outcomes included the 2022 Champions for Change campaign and the creation, updating and launching of the Stanap Strong website which brings together many resources related to gender-based violence.
