Other  HCDI Projects

VANGO/PIANGO Code Committee

HCDI actively supported the development of a voluntary code to promote transparency and accountability among Vanuatu Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), an initiative grounded in the Istanbul Principles and supported by PIANGO, resulting in the development of a Code in Bislama, English, and French. HCDI designed and implemented Code training for VANGO members, and developed an action plan for committee outreach, funding, and Code launching.

Solar Energy Solutions for Penoru Village & Conservation Area, Espiritu Santo

Through an IUCN micro-grant, HCDI, in collaboration with the Panla Boar Association, facilitated the acquisition, delivery and installation of 57 30W PV solar kits for use within the Penoru Conservation Area. With these kits, the Penoru community is now able to more sustainably meet its energy needs. The community also participated in a workshop on basic repair and maintenance of the solar kits, to ensure the sustainable use of these resources in the future.

Forchenal Tourism Initiative

HCDI worked with a local community in Santo bush to develop and implement a Ni-Van owned and operated tourism project. The first pilot offering was successfully implemented in July 2017.

School Principal Mentoring Program

HCDI collaborated with the Ministry of Education, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints  to design and implement a pilot program for mentoring school principals, focused on supporting principals to meet established government standards for principals.

SPC contracted HCDI to ensure the effective implementation of its first Youth@Work program in Vanuatu. HCDI worked with all program aspects, including internship organisation and accompaniment, training design and implementation, youth mentoring, young people’s establishment of business initiatives, and more.
